Zapier

Connect Commerce Kitty to thousands of other apps through Zapier so you can react to orders, inventory changes, and product updates without writing any code.

What it does

Zapier is an automation platform that connects apps through triggers and actions. The Commerce Kitty Zapier integration exposes your orders, products, and inventory events so you can build automations (Zaps) that fire whenever something happens in Commerce Kitty, or that make changes in Commerce Kitty when something happens in another app.

Use this plugin when you need to connect Commerce Kitty to an app that does not have a dedicated integration, for example Google Sheets for reporting, Slack for order notifications, a custom CRM, Airtable, QuickBooks, or a postal-mail service.

Setup

  1. Accept the Commerce Kitty integration invite on Zapier by following this link: Commerce Kitty on Zapier.
  2. In Commerce Kitty, open Settings > Plugins, click New, and choose Zapier. Save the plugin to enable it.
  3. Create an API key under Settings > API Keys. See the API Keys guide for details.
  4. In Zapier, create a new Zap and pick Commerce Kitty as the trigger or action app.
  5. When Zapier asks you to connect your Commerce Kitty account, paste the API key you created in step 3.

Once connected, you can build as many Zaps as you like against the same Commerce Kitty account. You only need to connect once per Zapier account.

Fields

API Key

Zapier authenticates using a Commerce Kitty API key. You generate the key inside Commerce Kitty and paste it into Zapier when prompted. The plugin itself does not store any keys.

Triggers

Triggers are events in Commerce Kitty that can start a Zap. Available triggers include:

  • Order Created. Fires when a new order is imported or manually created.
  • Order Updated. Fires when an order status, items, or totals change.
  • Order Shipped. Fires when a shipment is marked shipped.
  • Product Created. Fires when a new product is added to your catalog.
  • Product Updated. Fires when product details, pricing, or inventory change.

Actions

Actions are things Zapier can do in Commerce Kitty in response to an event elsewhere. Available actions include:

  • Create Order. Build a new order from fields supplied by the Zap.
  • Update Inventory. Adjust the quantity on hand for a given SKU.
  • Create or Update Product. Upsert a product based on SKU.

Limitations

Zapier has its own task limits and polling intervals based on your Zapier plan. High-volume stores may want to use dedicated plugins or webhooks directly rather than routing everything through Zapier, since each Zap run counts against your Zapier task quota.

Triggers that rely on polling (rather than instant webhooks) can take a few minutes to fire. If you need real-time reactions, check whether the trigger you need is marked as "Instant" in Zapier.

Zapier is not a good fit for bulk operations. If you need to import thousands of products or orders at once, use a CSV import or a dedicated plugin instead.

Treat your Commerce Kitty API key like a password. If you ever need to revoke Zapier's access, delete the API key from Settings > API Keys and all Zaps using it will stop working immediately.
